We were commissioned to assist with this Brisbane granny flat design for an existing home in suburban Brisbane.

The extension is designed to allow it to function separately from the existing home.  This allows it to be used in conjunction with the home for extended family stays, without compromising family privacy and amenity.  It also allows for separate rental of the extension while maintaining privacy for both guests and family.

The design includes features to allow it to function more comfortably, sustainably and affordably.  This includes use of recycled materials, and a 2 storey strawbale wall construction.  This faces west to help block the hot western sun from the living spaces behind.  These living space feature recycled hardwood timbers and feel sheltered and shaded behind the massive rendered strawbale wall.

This project has been included in an article in Sanctuary Magazine.  See more info on this article here.
