We designed the renovation of this townhouse in one of Brisbane’s inner city surburbs.
New townhouse Design
The comprehensive renovation included a complete re-imagining of the spaces and how they might best be used. Inside the existing volume of the townhouse, we managed to add an extra master bedroom and bathroom.
The new design opens up the interior of the space. This allows more light and cross ventilation. It also connects over 3 levels of the home.
The effect dramatically modernises the appearance of the original townhouse. It maintains the solid bones of the original design. The finishes take advantage of original feature brickwork, and timber floors. Through the layers of old carpet and tiles we also discovered and polished the concrete floor.
A new stone and stainless steel designer kitchen allowed us to reuse areas of the original veneer kitchen carcass.
Existing Townhouses
The original building from the 1980’s by Noel Robinson Architects is a landmark building for many locals. However, it had suffered significant damage from termites, water leaks, and age.
Through the design of the renovations to this Brisbane townhouse, we were able to remove the causes of these issues where possible, and turn them into an advantage for the occupants.
