In our own industry, homelessness is a big and important issue. It is driven by a mix of social, health and other factors. But from the Building Industry is driven by a shortage of affordable housing in suitable locations. One Australian scheme aiming to close the gap between affordable housing supply and demand provides a 0.1% donation to an affordable housing fund for the sale of every property signed up to the scheme. This appears to be an affordable way for those who benefit from our building industry (developers, builders, those selling property) and those who can afford to purchase property: to help those who cannot afford property – for more info or to sign up your own property go to: www.homesforhomes.com.au
We all waste too much food. Reduce waste. Compost it at home. If you run a business, it can go somewhere: http://www.ozharvest.org/
