This office fit-out is designed for a retro commercial space, in an older building in Surfers Paradise.
Scope of Renovation
The original tenancy was full of un-needed cupboards around every wall, old venetian blinds and old original desks. This left little room for useful meeting spaces or modern workflow.
The new design is a black and white checkerboard scheme with strong feature colours. It includes part height walls to provide useful office spaces. This still allows the high level skylights to wrap around the tenancy, and achieve both an ”open plan” feel, and strong natural lighting.
Sustainability of Design
The new walls inserted into the space are constructed from a series of matching recycled doors, reclaimed from another project with exposed feature studwork.
The fitout includes to re-use most of the original marble floor tiling. It also recycles materials used in the meeting tables, kitchen joinery, bench seats and desks. We collaborated with the builder to create the custom made joinery.
The tenancy is flooded with natural light and maintains plenty of openable windows. The new ceiling fans reduce the frequency and duration with which the staff need to run the air conditioning. The fans are Haiku fans which are energy efficient, and very quiet. They are also very stable (less wobble in the LED lighting mounted to the fan)
